3 films I've watched this week.
How I Ended This Summer (2010). My first russian film ever. Was thrilled the first seconds when the film went on, the cinema was dead quiet and I held my breath afraid to break it, only the projector was leaving evidence of presence with it's spinning sound. And then all that beautiful footage. And 'le fou' Sergei with his walkman rock music. It's about two men working on an isolated meterological station on an arctic island. Despite only two actors and a running time of around two hours it didn't get dull.
Water for Elephants(2011).To still Juni's RPattz cravings. Must say my heart melted by Rosie the elephant and I loved the whole circus atmosphere, wanted to take screenshots all the time but obviously that wasn't possible. Reese Witherspoon was very elegant as well, don't usually like her.
L'Affaire Farewell (2009). Based on the events of the fall of the Soviet Union, had a bit difficulties keeping up with the tempo, it was shifting between the french/the russian/the american frequently. I did however like the french, the Queen music played through the russian teenager Igor's walkman and Guillaume Canet.
